I am not a teacher. I am a graduate that has passed the CPNE. Keep that in mind when your view these videos. I made them and posted them for peer review and as a learning experience. Please don't accept anything I post here as "the" way to do these things. This is my way not the way. In fact if you see a mistake or question what you see I would be forever grateful for the feedback. Because you used 2 hands to recap the syringe?
Well, I'm gonna have to say either because you recapped the needle not using the one handed scoop techinique or because you inserted needle at higher than a 45 degree angle. Am I right? crsp@iland.net
No 90 is ok. good point on the 1 handed scoop but don't think thats a CE for this station. I did not check the insulin vials against the MAR. Don't make my mistake in your test.
when do you check vials against the MAR
I was told by someone that we have to have gloves on to draw up because touching the alcohol pads with our fingers is contaminating the pads therefore the vials. I thought this was the mistake, but guess not.
Cause you went Cloudy(NPH) before Clear (Regular)?
you did not demonstrate handwashing
He recapped the needle when he put the gloves on. When doing the "scoop" to recap the other hand has to be away from the needle. Check it out.
Check that the clear and cloudy insulin is the correct brand, Novalog or Humalog, and use the one handed scoop recap technique pushing the cap from the top. Those insulin needles bend easily and can pierce through the cap and cause an accidental stick. Sub Q always goes in at 90 degrees unless in arm of very thin person. We love you kiwi!

Didn aspirate when you inserted the needle into the skin to checkif you wre in a vessel?
use 45 degree if you can grasp one inch of tissue and 90 degree if you can pinch 2 inches per my foundations text

If you notice...at the beginning, when you first inject air into the NPH you are not supposed to touch the NPH with your needle, you are supposed to inject the air without touching, so that when you withdraw you are not contaminating the regular vial with the NPH that you just got on your needle that's one of the reason....I saw many, mostly safety
